Vaping: The Facts

Vaping has only been around for the last ten or so years. Which makes it relatively new to the market, meaning we still can’t be completely certain of any long-term effects – beneficial or detrimental to health, but with the facts, we do know, we can summarise. Quite a few people still don’t know about vaping, and the incredible benefits it has to help people stop smoking for good. Due to the lack of research, history and stats on the topic of vaping, people are often left wanting to know more about the subject and can be wary of it entirely. Here at The Vape Escape, we’re here to inform you and ensure you that vaping is safe, fun and can really help you lead a life away from smoking. Many scientific papers have been researched and published in recent years, giving us more of an insight into the science behind vaping, and light has been shed on some specific theories.

The Chemicals

Whether you’re inhaling either combusted smoke into your lungs, or vapour, there are some health implications that come with it. The long-term health implications of smoking are a lot more defined and outlined, due to statistics, the history of smoking and how long it’s been around for. Here’s what we found at The Vape Escape for the most common health implications found by researchers for both vaping and smoking.

Smoking

Everyone knows smoking isn’t good for us. Every time you inhale tobacco smoke, the reaction of the combustion of tobacco releases thousands of chemicals. It has been researched that twenty of these contain cancer-causing chemicals or chemicals which has a strong connection to causing cancer. These chemicals linked to cancer are known as carcinogens. Below we’ve listed some of the most common ones: Nicotine – This is the chemical that is highly addictive. Hydrogen Cyanide Formaldehyde Lead Arsenic Ammonia Benzene Carbon Monoxide Nitrosamines Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons Not only do these chemicals have a strong connection to cancer, but also to some other major health conditions, including heart and lung disease.

Vaping

Vaping in itself removes the need to combust anything. This, in turn, means that a lot of the chemicals listed above are not found in e-cigarettes. There are however a few chemicals found in vapour “smoke”, we’ve listed some below: Nicotine – The addictive chemical Propylene Glycol (Vegetable oil) Vegetable Glycerol Acetaldehyde Nitrosamines Other chemicals can be found in vapour, usually relating to the different flavours of the vape. Most of these are entirely safe to consume and are found to be food grade.

Vaping vs Smoking

In comparison to smoking, studies have shown that vaping is significantly safer than smoking, with relation to health and safety risks. With regards to cost implications, vaping has a larger initial cost, such as equipment and hardware needed to purchase in order to begin vaping. However, as smoking is seen as a long term habit, with smokers purchasing many packets of cigarettes a week, smoking is seen as a long term more expensive habit over vaping. Vape starter kits, such as the ones that we sell here at The Vape Escape, will last you around a year. Additional extras shouldn’t set you back too much either, and with the safety statistics we’ve listed above – we think vaping really is the smarter choice.
